2008 Statistics
- 5,203 Patients received medical care at the center, resulting in 17,585 patient visits.
- 3,704 Patients (71%) had no insurance coverage.
- 1,363 of those patients took advantage of our discount program based on family income. In 2008 Shalom discounted over $759,900 in patient care to the community.
- Over 1,242 patients were enrolled in the Shalom Advantage Program and are receiving further discounts on office visits as well as access to specialty care referrals. Over 750 of those patients actually visited Shalom in 2008.
- Over 1,425 of the patients seen in 2008 were new patients to the primary health care center.
- 517 Patients received free medications through the patient assistance program. The total value of the medications given free to the patients totaled over $192,000.

- Shalom Health Care Center has been in existence since 1994, starting with a small clinic in a downtown church. Today Shalom has eight locations to serve the Northwest side of Indianapolis. In addition to the primary care center there are three school-based clinics staffed with Nurse Practitioners in the IPS School Corporation and four school-based clinics staffed with RN’s in the Speedway Township Schools. Ask one of our staff for a complete list of our locations.
- Shalom Health Care Center offers a discount based on the income to patients who have a family income under 200% of the federal poverty level. A minimum payment of $15 or $20 is required to see a medical provider under this program.
- Shalom Health Care Center is a Health Advantage Provider. Patients who live in Marion County, are under 200% of the federal poverty level and have no insurance cover may apply for this program and be seen by a medical provider for as little as $5.00 a visit.
- Shalom Health Care Center is an enrollment center and is now accepting patients who have health insurance coverage including, Medicare, Hoosier Healthwise and Indiana Medicaid.
- Shalom Health Care Center has medical providers and staff who are bi-lingual in English and Spanish. Interpreter services are also available in other languages if needed.
- $25 helps fund a child’s immunization visit / $50 helps treat a child with asthma /$100 helps detect cervical and breast cancer / $500 helps fund the clinic’s lab tests for a day /$1,000 helps provide treatment of a patient’s diabetes for six months / $2,000 helps sponsor a day of healthcare at Shalom’s primary care center /$10,000 helps fund the primary care center for a week.
